Dr. Felipe A. Cetina is one of the most highly sought-after eye specialists in the greater Orlando Area today. Dr. Cetina is sub-specialty trained opthalmologist who is one of a very rare breed of eye surgeons who specialize in all aspects of vision corrective surgery (Corneal- and Lens-based), as well as family medicine and aesthetics.
Having personally performed hundreds of complicated eye operations, Dr. Cetina is one of the most experienced and meticulous eye surgeons in Florida, and has gained extensive experience to treat ocular conditions that often lead to complete blindness.
He is a graduate of the Universidad of Yucatan as a Medical Doctor in 1983. He also graduated as a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 1993 at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. In 1983 he went on to practice General Medicine in Belize, northernmost Central American nation, for 3 years until migrating to the United States of America. He then joined New York College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYCOM) as an assistant professor of Anatomy and Pathology from 1990-1993. He was then accepted in the Émigré Physician Program at NYCOM. Acceptance into the Émigré Physician Program is selective and very competitive. NYCOM accepts up to 35 candidates into the program, who are chosen based upon academic excellence, in-person interview and performance on NYCOM’s PreAdmission Comprehensive Examination.
Dr. Cetina graduated from NYCOM in 1996 after which he first coursed a Rotating Internship followed by a thee year Ophthalmology Residency Program at Nassau County Medical Center which is affiliated with the Health Sciences Center of the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Then went to Beraja Medical Institute (BMI) located in Coral Gables, Florida where he completed a fellowship in Anterior Segment and Refractive Surgery.
Dr. Cetina regularly spearheads humanitarian missions in underdeveloped countries. During these missions he performs numerous eye surgeries for the indigent populations and donates substantially in used medical equipment, medications and intraocular lenses.
